Week Eleven – God’s Transforming Revival
When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - II Chronicles 7:13, 14
Since 1980, a growing group of people, churches, and communities have been praying for a Haitian revival. But when you look around, it seems as if more than three decades of prayer and fasting and hard work are without positive results and that the nation is going further into the darkness. As a result, many people who once believed God was going to transform Haiti are either losing hope or have already lost it; not because God’s word is no longer true but because they have lost faith in God for Haiti. But God’s Word was true then and still is now; in fact, it is forever true because God’s Word is God himself, and he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. How comforting that is to know!
Let me be as clear as I possibly can that the transforming revival is possible in Haiti, and friends, there’s no doubt in my mind at all that it will happen, and soon. As I meet people from around the United States and in Haiti and world, I’m more convinced than ever that not only is it possible, but God is getting ready to do it.
Question to discuss
Do you think II Chronicles 7:14 is relevant to the Haitian context? Why?
Pray for transforming revival to take place in the land—a sweeping move of God—with the understanding that it must start within each believer’s heart.
